Ashes by Ilsa Bick

Alex, a resourceful seventeen-year-old running from her incurable brain tumor, Tom, who has left the war in Afghanistan, and Ellie, and angry eight-year-old, join forces after an electromagnetic pulse sweeps through the sky and kills most of the world's population, turning some of those who remain into zombies and giving the others superhuman senses.

Good book, kind of wierd though.I don't really have a favorite character in this book, but my least favorite would definitely be Ellie. She just annoyed me. I'm still not sure how the "Zap," as it is refferred to in the book, happened. They say that the giant volcanoe erupted, they say some kind of bomb went off in the atmosphere, still not sure what to think.

Ashes is a really good book. Ellie, a girl with brain cancer, runs away from her aunt's, into the wilderness, where she is all alone. Something happens, she calls it ZAP, and human kids are turned into what she thinks is zombies at first. But then she relizes that these kids are still alive and eating other people. She meets up with Tom, who has just left Afghanistan, and become friends. Together they embark on a journey to find a safe place and try to figure out what has happened an why.
