Everybody Sees the Ants is about a boy named Lucky who is having a rough time with everything….with life. Lucky has been putting up with this big bully named Nader who was once “his friend,” but that friendship quickly turned to ashes when Lucky created a school project based on suicide. After that, everybody including Aunt Jodie thinks there is something wrong with him. He barely smiles, his life is miserable, and when he does smile people worry. “Lucky you need to a doctor.” “Lucky you sure there’s nothing wrong?” questions like this are always being directed toward him. He needs an escape, and that one escape is trying to rescue his grandfather from multiple Prison Camps , (POW). Every night he dreams of it. Almost getting his grandfather free, or getting him free then getting caught and placed in another camp. Lucky tries time and time again all because of his grandma. The death of his grandma sent his dad over the edge it seems. His dad never had a father growing up, so he honestly doesn’t know how to act towards Lucky, or how to deal with his bullying problem. It was because of Nader that things for Lucky and his family things change. When Lucky’s mom decides to take Lucky to Arizona neither of them at the time knew that when they came back their lives will have changed for the better. In Arizona Lucky makes a couple of friends that are girls whom have strong personalities and they too are going through rough times… especially Ginny. Ginny helps Lucky be thankful for what he has, the family he has, how to stand up for what is right, and she even helps spice up his love life as well. Dave too, helps with this. Dave helps Lucky find a release of all the negativity, even if it’s as simple as lifting weights… Lucky is finally becoming the person he was meant to be and his family starts to heal again. Nader whom has just gotten worse not just towards Lucky, but towards others faces the karma he deserves, and is no longer a problem in Lucky's life anymore even though he gave Lucky some wounds that won’t ever truly heal…but his grandfather however is a different story. His grandfather was a wise, wise man, he showed Lucky that everybody struggle at some point during their lives…
