Stupid Fast by Geoff Herbach

Just before  his sixteenth birthday, Felton Reinstein has a sudden growth spurt that turns him from a small, jumpy, picked-on boy with the nickname of "Squirrel Nut" to a powerful athlete, leading to new friends, his first love, and the courage to confront his family's past and current problems.

Felton is 15 years old. He grows a lot when he turns 15 and becomes really fast; His best friend leaves town to go to Venazeala to visit his grandma for the summer and Jazz is forced to take up his friend's paper route which he really doesnt want to do. He notices that this beasutiful girl is now moved into his friends house, the football team wants to recruit him because of his speed. Everything seems like it could not be going better. But at home is mom is slipping into a crazy depression and his brother is being really affected by it. He starts dating this girl who is an amazing piano player and well his mom gets worse and worse he has to deal with all the pressures around him. He is eventually forced to call his grandma to take care of them.

Well the kid before me gave the entire lay down of the book, so yeah. I though it was funny how Felton calls all of the town kids "Honkies" and "Poopstinkers." the Big M place they talk about reminds me of the place with a big "W" on it outside of Galesburg I think. My favorite part was probably when Felton goes to the weight room for the first time, and starts talking about how bad it smells.

I really enjoyed this book. Its about a boy named Felton. A boy who has had a rough life. His best friend Gus goes out of town for the summer, so he has to do his paper route and he finds out that a girl and her father are renting his house for the summer. As they get to know each other they start to like each other and date. His home life starts to go downhill when his mother Jerri starts acting really strange and not herself and just gives up on Gus and his brother. Finally, they cant take it and end up going to their grandmother to ask for help.
