Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo

This book was pretty cool, and had a nice idea to it. One thing that bothered me was that in the Fold, as it is called, there are Volcra, but nothing else. No other mysterious, evil monster. The reader is left to wonder about the Darkling's real name. "Hey this weird wizard guy who controls shadows could have some cool Russian name like us. Or he could be named Bettie and make everybody use his title out of embarrassment." I doubt that's what they're saying, but hey who knows? Also it's kind of cliched that she learns "the cut" just when she needs to get away from the bad guys.

Shadow and Bone is a good book if you can follow it. The names of things really got me. But I think that it was sweet that she fell in love with the person that you really want her to. But she is put under a lot of pressure, because she is put under a lot of pressure by her country. Then at the very end a giant plot twist is thrown into place and it really changes her point of view on the world.
